Writing Prompt: Write about the candle in the window.

January 28, 1865 , Crittenden, Kentucky

Every night I put a candle in the window to shine a light from home into the darkness.
When you see it you will know I am waiting for you and it will guide you back to me.
The candle represents hope that we will once again be together.

I hold her close to my heart with unfeigned love, longing to see her and touch her
and smell her sweet perfume.  I know she keeps a candle burning for me in the window
and it comforts me to know she is waiting for my return.  Our love will endure this time apart.
